How do I buy a ticket?
There is no need to pre-purchase a ticket just pay the driver when you hop on board.
Do we have to book?
No. This is a scheduled service, so hop on and pay the driver.
Where do I catch the ferry?
There are five stops where you can get on and off the ferry. Use the map on the home page to find the nearest one to your location.
How much does it cost?
The ferry is $9 one way, $15 return or you can purchase a 10 trip concession card for $49, which makes it only $4.90 one way.
How often does it leave?
Please view the timetable on the home page for the latest leaving times.
How long does it take?
The trip from Frankton to Queenstown (or vice versa) generally takes around 30 minutes.
Can I fish from the ferry?
Can I take my bike over on the ferry?
No, not currently. However, this is something we are looking into.
Do you have child prices for the ferry?
No. The pricing structure is currently as low as we can go.
Do you allow dogs on Queenstown Ferries?
Yes. We welcome furry friends.
Where else can Queenstown Ferries take us?
Queenstown Ferries has a set route and timetable to allow a streamlined, reliable service. However, Queenstown Water Taxi’s can take you anywhere on Lake Wakatipu. You can go for a remote picnic at Bob’s Cove or a hike at Mt Nicholas Station.
